ITF-TAO Japan 6th Annual Championships

On Sunday May 1st, ITF-TAO Japan played host to the 6th Syutoken Taekwon-Do Championships in Tokyo Hachioji-City, Japan.

The annual event was very successful due to the support of local Instructors and Dojangs.

9th Annual Technical Seminar in London

On Saturday, May 14th, ITF-TAO Technical Director Mr. Mike Morningstar conducted a 5 hour technical seminar in London, Ontario.

The event was hosted by Mrs. Cathy Hadubiak, head instructor of Oakridge Taekwon-Do and was attended by students from Morningstar TKD and Oakridge TKD. Sixty participants from yellow belt to 4th degree black belt were put to the test with a very challenging warm up. Mr. Morningstar covered fundamental movements, kicking drills, patterns, step sparring and self-defence.

The last two hours of the day was devoted to the black belts.

Oakridge Taekwon-Do Promotion Test

May 9, 2016

On Saturday, May 7th, Oakridge Taekwon-Do promoted four students to 1st degree black belt. The test was conducted by ITF-TAO Technical Director Mr. Mike Morningstar and assisted by Oakridge Taekwon-Do Head Instructor Mrs. Cathy Hadubiak.

The four hour examination began with a physical test of 5 minutes of skipping, 30 push-ups, 30 sit-ups and 10 berpies. The actual test was divided into 5 categories: patterns and fundamental movements, self-defense, sparring (which included 3, 2 & 1-step sparring), breaking and theory (a written test was completed by all candidates prior to this date).

Japan’s 11th Hyogo Taekwon-Do Championships

On Saturday April 10, ITF-TAO Japan hosted the 11th Hyogo Taekwon-Do Championships at the Oji Sports Center in Hyogo Prefecture Kobe, Japan. One hundred junior white belt to black belt competed in both patterns and sparring.

Congratulations to ITF-TAO Japan for hosting a successful event in the True Spirit of Original Taekwon-Do.

Newfoundland’s “Battle of the Brave”

April 7, 2016

On Saturday March 19th, McCarthy’s Taekwon-Do hosted the “Battle of the Brave” Friendship Tournament in St. John’s, Newfoundland.

One hundred and forty+ competitors from Newfoundland and Ontario were in attendance. It was a great display of Taekwon-Do and everyone performed extremely well.

The judges did a fantastic job overall with lot’s of positive feed back from spectators and parents for how professional everything was.

ITF-TAO Welcomes Japan as Latest Member

From March 24-28, TAO Technical Director Mr. Mike Morningstar visited Gifu, Japan to conduct a Technical Seminar and attended the 16th Chubu Taekwon-Do Championships. A meeting was held with all members of ITF-Nippon and the decision was made for them to join ITF-TAO.

Under the guidance of Master Yanagi Itsuo and President Mr. Takahiko Tsuchida we look forward to working together to keep the Original Taekwon-Do of the Founder, General Choi Hong Hi alive in it’s purest form.

2016-03-26 - ITF-TAO welcomes Japan

Annual Technical Seminar at CFB Borden TKD

March 9, 2016

On Saturday March 5th, twenty-four students of all ages and ranks participated in a technical Seminar conducted by TAO Technical Director Mr. Mike Morningstar and hosted by Integrity TKD. Also in attendance were students from Oakridge TKD and Morningstar TKD.

The 4-hour training session included patterns from Chon-Ji to Ge-Baek as well as kicking drills, basic movements and physical conditioning. At the conclusion of the seminar a ITF-TAO membership plaque was also presented to Mr. Derek Morningstar who will be assuming the teaching responsibilities at Integrity as of April 1, 2016.

A special thank you to Mr. Dwayne Bos for his hard work building a very dedicated student base at CFB Borden over the past 4 years. Good luck Mr. Bos with your posting in Ottawa.

2016-03-05 - ITF-TAO Technical Seminar

3rd ITF-TAO Umpire Course

March 7, 2016

Mr. Rick Winsor, Umpire Director, conducted the 3rd ITF-TAO Umpire “A” and “B” Tournament Officials Course at McCarthy’s Taekwon-Do in Conception Bay South, Newfoundland. There were 14 Black Belt attendees ranging from 1st to 4th Dan.

This was a full-day course which involved becoming familiar with the requirements of fulfilling the duties of a Head Official as well as a Center Referee. This was done through the review of course materials and hands-on practical application exercises allowing the students to perform these duties in a professional manner.

It was a very successful seminar and all participants will be awarded the designation of Umpire “A” or “B” certification.

FGMR Visits Nicaragua

February 12, 2016

On the weekend of February 5th, First Grand Master Rhee Ki Ha conducted a technical seminar for the Instructors and students of ITF-TAO Nicaragua. The event was organized by ITF-TAO Nicaragua President 5th Dan Mr. Pierson Solis. FGMR was accompanied by Technical Director Mr. Mike Morningstar and Mr. Sean Sutton Vice President USA.

Keeping true to the teachings of the founder of Taekwon-Do, General Choi Hong Hi, FGMR drilled the participants on correct sine wave and the proper application of techniques. By the end of the 4 hour training everyone was exhausted but motivated in their efforts to keep Chang Hun Taekwon-Do alive in it’s purist form. A promotion test was also held after the seminar.

Congratulations to all those who were successful in their quest for higher dan levels.
