TAO name change

July 26, 2010

Due to the current direction of TAO and with the addition of new members outside of Ontario, we have decided to keep the acronym “TAO” but to modify it’s meaning.  The name “TAO” was chosen because Tao é“ is a concept found in ancient Chinese philosophy.  While the word itself translates as ‘way’, ‘path’, or ‘route’, or sometimes more loosely as ‘doctrine’ or ‘principle’, it is often used philosophically to signify the fundamental or true nature of the world.

The mission of TAO is to promote the values, the practice, and the philosophy of the Traditional Art of Taekwon-Do as created by the Founder, General Choi Hong Hi.  TAO is a group of dedicated and loyal Instructors with the goal to preserve, perpetuate and advance the legacy of General Choi Hong Hi and Chang-Hun Taekwon-Do for the betterment of the lives of those who train, and to contribute positively to human history.

It is our goal to remain as Authentic as possible and to maintain and promote the Original Art of Taekwon-Do in it’s purist form.  Going forward the acronym will remain  “TAO” but the words will change to Traditional – Authentic – Original, outlining the philosophy and motivation of the organisation.
