Forty-five Oakridge Taekwon-Do students from white belt to red belt recently attempted and were successful in their quest for new ranks.  The test was conducted by TAO Technical Director Mr. Mike Morningstar and assisted by Oakridge Taekwon-Do Head Instructor Mrs. Cathy Hadubiak.  Congratulations on your promotions and good work promoting Taekwon-Do in the City of London.

Annual Technical Seminar in Philadelphia

For the 6th year in a row, Hwa-Rang Warriors and Ott’s Taekwon-Do hosted a seminar conducted by TAO Technical Director, Mr. Mike Morningstar.  The seminar was attended by 99 students and instructors from all over the area.  Members of  ITF-TAO,  USA-ITF and the A.T.F.I  filled the John M. Perzel Center in Philadelphia.  The seminar started with an extensive warm-up followed by and explanation of proper kicking, patterns, 3 and 1 step sparring and self-defence.  Mr. Sutton spent the morning Sunday showing Mr. Morningstar and a few of his students some historical sights in Philadelphia.  It was a great day for all that attended and inspired everyone to get back in the Do-Jang as soon as possible.

New Black Belts for Cabot TKD

Cabot Taekwon-Do in St. Johns, Newfoundland recently promoted students to 1st Degree Black Belt and  2nd Degree Black Belt.  The test was conducted by TAO Technical Director Mike Morningstar assisted by Mr. Jeff Butt.   Students were required to perform all patterns, 3-step sparring, 2 & 1-step sparring self defence, free sparring and breaking. A 100 question written test was also be completed with a passing mark of 70% or higher in order to participate in the physical portion of the examination.  Congratulations to all who were successful

10th Annual Seminar in Newfoundland

For the 10th time in as many years, TAO Technical Director Mr. Mike Morningstar conducted a technical seminar for the students of Cabot Taekwon-Do in St. John’s, Newfoundland.  Although normally hosted by Mr. Rick Winsor, due to his deployment to Afghanastan as part of the Canadian Military, the students of Cabot Taekwon-Do were left with the task.  Fifty participants from yellow belt to 3rd degree black belt were put to the test with a very challenging warm up, fundamental movements, kicking drills and patterns.  The last hour of the day was devoted to black belt patterns.

TAO represented at the Millennium Cup

Over 40 competitors from Chon-Ji TKD, Morningstar TKD and Oakridge TKD recently attended the Millennium Cup Friendship tournament hosted by Mr. Sergio Plaja and Millennium Taekwon-Do. Competitors from accross Ontario competed in patterns, sparring and high kick events. Many Master and Instructors were also in attendance with a special guest of honor, Grand Master Park Jong Soo. After the dust settled TAO members came away with a good number of trophies in all three events. Congratulations to Mr. Plaja and the staff at Millennium TKD for hosting such a professional and well organised event.

Solid showing for Ott’s TKD at Chang-Hun Championships

On November 5, 2011, Ott’s Taekwon-Do competed in the Chang Hun Championships held in Royersford, Pennsylvania. The tournament was hosted by Mr. Rob Benedetto of Dragon Star Martial Arts Academy. Over 180 students from  the ITF-USA, US-ITF and the ITF-TAO united for the day to compete together as one.   Ott’s Taekwon has been competing in this tournament for the past 8 years and this year was their best ever.  Over 25 students competed from Ott’s TKD and they brought home over 20 medals ranging from Bronze to Gold in both Patterns and Sparring.  Ott’s TKD represented especially well this year in Sparring winning over 10 Gold Medals in this division.  Congratulations to Mr. Benedetto for hosting yet another successful tournament and to everyone who competed.

Nineteen Oakridge Taekwon-Do students from white belt to blue stripe recently attempted and were successful in their quest for new ranks.  The test was conducted by TAO Technical Director Mr. Mike Morningstar and assisted by Oakridge Taekwon-Do Head Instructor Mrs. Cathy Hadubiak.  This was the first promotion test held at the new location of Oakridge Taekwon-Do.  Congratulations on your promotions and good work promoting Taekwon-Do in the City of London.

OTFA 1st Annual Technical Conference

On September 24 & 25, 2011, the Original Taekwon-Do Federation of America conducted its first official event.  The Technical Conference was held at The Red Rock Casino, Resort and Spa in Las Vegas, Nevada and it had participants from Arizona, California, New York, New Jersey, Nevada, Oregon and Pennsylvania.  Master Vincent Affatigato and Mr. Cody Springsguth conducted the training sessions.  Master Affatigato’s sessions focused on dallyon, fundamental movements and patterns.  Mr. Springsguth’s sessions focused on the new hol sin sol syllabus for the organization and sparring.   In conjunction with the Technical Conference, Mr. Matthew Lusk and the Las Vegas Martial Arts Academy hosted a BBQ for all of the participants.   This was a wonderful opportunity for fellowship outside of the training sessions.
