New Ranks in London

Twenty-five Oakridge Taekwon-Do students from white belt to red stripe recently attempted and were successful in their quest for new ranks. The test was conducted by ITF-TAO Technical Director Mr. Mike Morningstar and assisted by Oakridge Taekwon-Do Head Instructor Mrs. Cathy Hadubiak. Congratulations on your promotions and good work promoting Taekwon-Do in the City of London.

New Dan’s in Newfoundland

Mr. Rick Winsor, V Dan, Cabot Taekwon-Do, Goulds NL, would like to announce the promotions of Mrs. Rhonda Johnson to II Dan and Miss Alex Johnson to II Dan. This Mother/Daughter duo endured a 2 part examination process to ensure their eligibility for their testing. This included a physical test comprised of running 3 different distances, timed situps and pushups for part 1 and then a 1 hour written theory test. After the successful completion of these prerequisites, the Johnsons successfully tested for their II Dans on Saturday, February 7, 2015. Congratulations from Mr. Winsor and all the students from Cabot Taekwon-Do.

2015 AnnualTechnical Conference

On the weekend of January 23-25, seventy five students from red belt to 7th degree black belt participants from across the United States, Canada and Nicaragua attended our Annual Technical Conference an AGM. The AGM was held on the Friday evening with all members of the Board of Directors in attendance. All 24 patterns as well as 3, 2, 1-step and model sparring were covered throughout the two days. Keeping true to the teachings of the founder of Taekwon-Do, General Choi Hong Hi, the students and instructors were drilled on correct sine wave and the proper application of techniques. By the end of the 10 hour training everyone was exhausted but motivated in their efforts to keep Chang Hun Taekwon-Do alive in it’s purist form. A promotion test was also held for 3rd and 4th Dan candidates. Congratulations to all those who were successful in their quest for higher Dan levels. Thank you to ITF-TAO United States for hosting this years event.

Seasons Greetings and wishing ITF-TAO members a Happy New Year

Over the past few years I have seen great improvement in Taekwon-Do practitioners from all different organizational backgrounds working together, supporting each other and showing a mutual respect for one another, which is what our Founder General Choi Hong Hi intended; “to build a more peaceful world”.

2015 being the 60th Anniversary of Taekwon-Do, I encourage each and every one of you to better what we have already achieved, to ensure the positive future that our Founder would be proud of.

Technical Director Visits Bartlett’s TKD

ITF-TAO Technical Director Mike Morningstar recently visited Bartlett’s Taekwon-Do in Whitby, Ontario where he conducted a 1 1/2 hour training session for the students and a 1 hr private lesson for Mr. Bartlett and Mr. Smith. Bartlett’s Taekwon-Do was also presented with their ITF-TAO membership plaque and welcomed into the TAO family.

13th Annual Seminar in Newfoundland

On November 21-22, ITF-TAO Technical Director Mr. Mike Morningstar conducted an 8 hour technical seminar in St. John’s, Newfoundland. The 13th annual event was hosted by Mr. Rick Winsor, head instructor of Cabot Taekwon-Do, and was attended by students from Cabot TKD and Terra Nova TKD. Thirty nine participants from white belt to 5th degree black belt participated. Friday night was a four hour session for black belts covering Kwang-Gae tul to So-San tul. Saturday’s four hour session covered a variety of topics and was attended by everyone.

5th Annual Seminar in the Nations Capital

On Saturday October 25th the 5th Annual ITF-TAO Technical Seminar was held Ottawa, Canada. The seminar was hosted by Johnsons Taekwon-Do and conducted by TAO Technical Director Mr. Mike Morningstar. The seminar began with an intense warm-up followed by fundamental exercises,kicking drills and color belt and black belt patterns. Saturday from 9am to 3:30pm was for yellow-stripe and above andwas thoroughly enjoyed by all. The seminar was well attended by over 45 students. Special thanks to Mr. Johnson and Mr. Hanna for your great work promoting the Original Taekwon-Do of General Choi Hong Hi in the Nations Capital.
